This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2024

Dianella Secondary College (SC) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic teacher to join our dynamic and collaborative Health and Physical Education (HPE) team. The successful applicant will ideally be a passionate teacher of HPE, with a commitment to high expectations for all students. Applicants should be able to demonstrate innovative and inclusive classroom practice, cultivating a safe and supportive learning environment for students of varying ability levels across Year 7 to Year 12. Teachers at Dianella SC are committed to building a positive culture of success where students strive to achieve their personal best.

The successful applicant should display a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, in line with the Dianella SC whole school pedagogy framework. Applicants who display an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum, and the ability to develop and deliver a broad spectrum of secondary HPE curriculum, through a wide range of teaching models, will be highly regarded. The successful applicant should display the ability to differentiate the curriculum in an engaging and relevant manner. A qualification to teach Vocational Education and Training is highly desirable in this learning area.

You will ideally possess excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills that allow you to build and maintain collaborative and respectful partnerships across the college and the wider community.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
