This is a six (6) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 3, 2024 with possible extension.
La Grange Remote Community School (RCS) is seeking a Physical Education Primary Teacher to join their high quality regional school.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at La Grange Remote Community School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $5000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
About the role
The successful applicant will ideally be a highly motivated, innovative Primary Teacher with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Ideally, the learning environment you create will be challenging and caring, culturally responsive and cater for the range of needs and abilities which will see all students achieving their potential.
The successful applicant should be prepared to participate in whole school and phase planning as well as collaborative and curriculum teams. It is highly desirable that applicants show a high level of collaborative practice to enable effective participation and engagement within the school. This includes the ability to utilise data and evidence including student achievement data, peer, coach, line manager and student feedback to inform teaching practice that meets the needs of students. This is in-line with professional learning community practices.
Knowledge of the Kimberley Schools Project (KSP), Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI), Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework and Stronger Smarter Philosophy is highly desirable. Complementing this knowledge is the ability to understand trauma-informed practice and how this impacts the way in which we teach in a remote context. Knowledge of the Bidyadanga and broader Kimberley context is also desirable.
Our school
As the largest remote community school in the state, La Grange RCS caters to the educational needs of all school-aged children in the Bidyadanga community, and classes range from Pre-Kindergarten (0–3-year-olds) to Year 12.
In addition to a strong commitment to developing the literacy and numeracy skills of its students, La Grange RCS offers a diverse range of specialist programs across all year levels including Music, Art, Physical Education and Information and Communication Technology and a focus on cultural learning, particularly the provision of Language classes.
The location and community
La Grange RCS is situated in the Bidyadanga Aboriginal Community in the Kimberley region, on Karajarri country, 180 km south of Broome. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
