This is a permanent, full-time position commencing Term 3, 2024.
Kiara College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic leader, Program Coordinator - Specialised Learning Program (SLP) Autism, with a passion for supporting the whole child to achieve their potential.
In 2025, Kiara College will open a new Specialist Learning Program (SLP) for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The program provides specialist and intensive support to students with ASD - without intellectual impairment - who have the capacity to learn at or near their academic year level standard with support. Students may have specific social and emotional development needs that are related to their ASD. As 2025 will be the first year of the program at Kiara College, the successful applicant will ideally have an exceptional strategic planning and operational management skill set.
The successful applicant for this role would work in a shared, collaborative arrangement with staff, providing professional leadership within the program and across the school, building capacity of staff, promoting inclusivity and positive educational outcomes for students with ASD As part of the senior leadership team, you would contribute strategically to whole school planning.
As the Program Coordinator you would develop, implement, monitor and review plans and policies associated with the SLP's for students with ASD and provide high level advice and support to Department staff. As part of this role, you should also liaise with principals, internal and external stakeholders regarding the transition of students from the SLP'S.
Kiara College is an Independent Public School that is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in the Performing Arts, Agriculture and ongoing STEM redevelopments where students can capitalise on real life and industry standard applications of skills in these areas. Kiara College offers comprehensive and innovative programs that support students to achieve their potential. Students can follow an ATAR, General or VET pathways, preparing them for university entry, TAFE, or employment. Our partnerships with tertiary institutions such as UWA Aspire, ECU UniPrep and North Metro TAFE facilitate students’ success beyond school. We offer two Specialist Programs: Agriculture and Basketball. Students are also able to study Contemporary Music.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
