The Role and our Branch

The School Curriculum and Standards Division (the Division) provides administrative and secretariat services for, and implements the decisions of, the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority). The Authority provides quality curriculum and ensures assessment standards to enable all students being taught Western Australian curriculum to become confident, creative learners and active, informed citizens who contribute positively to society. The Strategic and External Relations branch of the School Curriculum and Standards Division is seeking a Senior Consultant - Primary to Year 12 Achievements to join their team.

The successful applicant will provide advice to overseas school licensed to deliver the Western Australian curriculum with their data collection and reporting processes as required by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority). This role will work closely with administration and leadership officers from overseas schools and liaise with a range of internal stakeholders to ensure that Authority policies, processes and procedures with respect to student records are followed. The position will support overseas school administration to develop their understanding of the Authority's requirements with respect to provider and student data.

The Senior Consultant has the opportunity to work with a growing number of overseas schools and to contribute to a State Government strategy to grow the number of overseas schools licensed to deliver the Western Australian curriculum. You will work in a dynamic and supportive team environment.

You will have strong understanding of Authority policies, processes and procedures with respect to student and provider records, or the ability to quickly develop this understanding. You will possess cultural competence to appreciate the environment within which overseas schools operate and be solutions focused, collegiate self-motivated and able to work autonomously as needed.

  1. Demonstrated substantial skills and experience in managing data within established database programs.
  2. Demonstrated highly developed conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to identify, clarify and analyse processes and generate appropriate strategies to address issues particularly in an international education context as this pertains to the establishment of the Western Australian Kindergarten to Year 12 curriculum.
  3. Demonstrated highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to consult with stakeholders at all levels.
  4. Demonstrated substantial skills and experience in developing and implementing procedures and processes.
  5. Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet planned outcomes and deadlines.

Eligibility and Training Requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
