Appointment Pool
Connolly Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Cleaners for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.
This is a fantastic opportunity for highly effective and motivated cleaners to join our friendly team at Connolly PS. Cleaners support the Department of Education’s main objective of teaching and learning of students by ensuring that the school facilities are cleaned and maintained in accordance with Department of Education procedures.
Suitable applicants will carry out internal cleaning duties including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting, rubbish removal, drinking troughs and other items of general cleaning. In addition to this, suitable applicants would also carry out external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of verandas and covered areas, removal of cobwebs, other general cleaning and other such duties as required by the Cleaner-in-Charge. Vacation cleaning duties should also be completed and this includes shampooing carpets and pressure cleaning various areas.
In this role you should have good attention to detail and be able to work well both individually and as part of a team to ensure a clean and safe school environment. You will ideally be organised, honest, reliable, punctual and have excellent knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures, methods and practices.
Connolly PS is an Independent Public School, it was established in 1991 and is located approximately 25 kilometres north of Perth, close to the Joondalup Golf Course. At Connolly PS we pride ourselves on being the school of choice for families living in and around Connolly. We provide a caring and positive school environment for children in the local community. The school provides educational services to students from Kindergarten to Year Six, with an enrolment of approximately 400 students.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Ability to read and apply Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment operating instructions, safety instructions and training guidelines.
- Knowledge of, and ability to, use cleaning equipment including polishers, vacuum cleaners and pressure cleaners.
- Ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions and work as a member of a team.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s online training in manual tasks and hazardous substances within 3 months of commencement;
- complete Fundamentals of Cleaning training as soon as practicable;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
