John Forrest Secondary College is seeking an outstanding teacher who possesses a deep understanding of curriculum and has the passion and commitment to create a learning environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning.  

The successful applicant should design and deliver highly differentiated and individualised Mathematics and English programs to classes of selected Year 7 and 8 within a collegial team environment. Each class consists of approximately 20 students who are carefully selected based on data and diagnosis. Family partnerships are established early to maximise student information and engagement in the program. An understanding of quality teaching to progress the learning of students requiring a supportive learning environment and targeted intervention for identified learning needs would be considered an asset. Experience in developing Individual Education Plans and Special Education Needs reporting would be desirable, however, training will be available.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
