The North and South Metropolitan Education Regions are seeking to establish a pool of Participation Coordinators for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2024 and up to the end of April 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within 2024, up to the end of April 2025.
The Participation Coordinator provides case coordination, brokerage and face-to-face outreach support to compulsory school-aged students at risk of disengaging from an effective transition into appropriate education, training, and employment options. The role is responsible for making appropriate assessment of individual students’ needs, including developing high-quality plans to access appropriate pathways to a range of post-school options. In addition to this you will develop and maintain an effective network of youth, employment, education and training services relevant to young people in the locality and across regions.
Suitable applicants will possess the ability to communicate effectively with all key people including students, parents, leadership teams in schools, training organisations, support agencies and industry. The suitable applicant will be culturally responsive and have sound interpersonal skills.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- hold a current ‘C’ class driver’s licence
- undertake travel, including overnight stays in non-metropolitan locations, as required
- undertake travel in small aeroplanes to remote locations, as required
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
