Carine Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic leader to fulfil the role of Associate Principal.
In collaboration with the principal and the executive team, the Associate Principal will provide educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school’s vision, business plan and strategic directions across the school community. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and staff.
Carine Senior High School is one of the largest public schools in the state. This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with DoE policies and the various Acts which inform the policies. This will include the management of ministerial requests in collaboration with the principal and leading the school's overall communication processes with staff, students the wider school community, Regional and Central Office. The successful applicant will be required to liaise with the North Metro Regional Office and Central Office on matters which require special project work such as acting as the Covid Liaison on behalf of the principal. In addition, this position will have a significant role in leading many whole school events, of up to 3000 participants. The successful applicant will also lead the development of the school’s online and print presence and takes carriage of ensuring Carine is marketed appropriately to the local and international community.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
