Perth Modern School is seeking an innovative and passionate School Systems Support Officer (SSSO) to join our school.
The successful applicant will be working with a progressive and enthusiastic team of allied professionals who are engaged in implementing a whole school gifted and talented approach to the educational programs offered in the school. The successful applicant will support the Principal, Deputy Principals and teaching staff; managing student and teacher timetables, reports, school relief management processes and database systems. The SSSO will maintain a range of curriculum related databases, ensuring data integrity and generating reports in a timely manner.
You will ideally have sound written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, will be highly organised, can solve problems and meet deadlines, and commence the school day at 7am. You will provide data for reporting, course specific individual reports, state and national testing. The SSSO will develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stake holders. You will coordinate examination rosters, venues and supervisors, the roll-over of updates and data systems. You will also develop and maintain database systems and school relief management processes. Experience with SIS Integris Cover and Timetabling, Microsoft 365, Compass, Reporting to Parents (RTP), School Information Records System (SIRS) and school ICT systems would be highly desirable.
Perth Modern School is Western Australia's only fully academically selective school for gifted students in Years 7 to 12. Centrally located in Subiaco, the School provides a differentiated and compacted curriculum that develops the individual skills and abilities of academically gifted students. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Ability to provide effective administrative support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of business systems.
- Initiative and sound organisational skills with the ability to identify priorities and meet deadlines.
- Sound research, conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to provide innovative thinking in problem solving.
- Well developed computer skills, including the ability to create, operate, manipulate databases, spreadsheets and extract reports.
- Sound written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to liaise with individuals at all levels and work effectively in a team environment.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
