Joseph Banks Secondary College (SC) are seeking a dedicated and passionate Music teacher to join their collaborative Arts team.
The successful applicant will ideally be passionate and dedicated educators, innovative practitioners, and highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. They should provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their skills, knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Arts contexts.
The successful applicant should have the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. Applicants should have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and be able to teach students of varying ability levels across Year 7 – 12 in a highly engaging manner. In Year 11 and 12, we offer students access to Music ATAR as well as the Certificate III in Music Industry (Performance). Strong knowledge and skills in the delivery of one these Senior Secondary courses is highly desirable.
Joseph Banks SC has a well-established Creative and Performing Arts Academy for students. The Academy provides students with the opportunity to develop a passion for an Arts context throughout the year and to increase their understanding of other Arts contexts, through engaging with the diverse number of Arts courses the college provides. In Year 7-10, students can access the Music Academy as a major course for the entire year, whilst also rotating through the other Arts contexts as a minor course each trimester.
The successful applicant will ideally be collaborative teachers with the ability to work well in a team environment. They should provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experiences to develop their understanding and appreciation of Music. As such, the successful applicant will ideally possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics. The College has state of the art facilities and equipment and offers a wide variety of courses in Music from Years 7-12.
The successful applicant will ideally be a teacher who engages their students and challenge them to achieve their personal best through innovative learning opportunities and who are able to teach students of varying ability levels, differentiating the curriculum, in a highly engaging manner. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment will be well regarded as well as a willingness to engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks.
Joseph Banks SC is an Independent Public School in the suburb of Banksia Grove, approximately 40 kilometres from the Perth CBD. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.
