Governor Stirling Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join their team.
The successful applicant will ideally possess the professional knowledge, understanding and experience to deliver engaging and relevant secondary science curriculum. They will ideally have proven success catering for students with diverse needs and abilities, as well as being proficient in developing resources that meet their educational needs. We are seeking teachers who are reflective and can adjust their practice to accommodate individual student needs and maximise learning. The successful applicant should support the implementation of the school business plan, work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives, and have a strong evidenced based approach to their classroom practise. Applicants who have recent experience in planning, delivery and assessing lower school Western Australian Science curriculum, Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and General courses, particularly those in Physics and/or Chemistry are strongly encouraged to apply

Governor Stirling SHS is moving to Compass in 2024 as a platform for pastoral care and communication and Connect as a Learning Management System. Teachers are supported to develop the necessary skills to use these platforms effectively. As a BYOD school we also expect teachers to develop skills so that they able to deliver programs via a digital platform.
Governor Stirling SHS, situated on the banks of the Swan River in Woodbridge, offers the Department of Education Gifted and Talented Academic Program, a range of academic and Vocational Education and Training programs and Approved Specialist Programs in Engineering, Arts Media and AFL Football. Governor Stirling SHS prepares students for life after high school with many options for academic and vocational pathways.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
