Appointment Pool
Gilmore College is seeking to establish a pool of English Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.

To be considered for this role, you should be student and relationship focused, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment.
Applicants should reflect a growth mindset on and evaluate the effectiveness of your teaching practice. You should highlight your ability to select from a flexible and effective repertoire of teaching strategies to suit the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development and characteristics of all students. Having experience in SEN (Special Education Needs) Reporting and providing educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve success, understanding of curriculum differentiation is highly desirable.
Suitable applicants should have a strong ability to analyse learning area and individual student data in English, to improve student achievement and subject knowledge relevant to supporting student learning. It is highly desirable for suitable applicants to have experience working with Whole School Instructional Models and methods employed in Explicit Instruction and a knowledge of whole school literacy and numeracy for low achievers. The capacity to teach Australian Admission Tertiary Rank (ATAR) courses, and previous experience or qualifications teaching English would be highly regarded.
The successful applicant will ideally have knowledge and experience and the skills to work with Students at Education Risk (SAER) and extension classes for Academic Education Program (AEP). The successful applicant should display an explicit understanding of differentiated learning and must be willing to contribute to the growth and development of the English Learning Area. Suitable applicants should have the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students and maintain effective relationships quickly with all stakeholders.
Suitable candidates will have the opportunity to apply their expertise of the English Learning Area across Years 7 to 12, utilising their knowledge and teaching experience in senior school Western Australia Certificate of Education (WACE), to encourage and support our students to achieve outstanding results.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
