Morley Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a Teacher, Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Teacher to join our team.

Students in Years 7 to 10 have access to engaging programs, including Department of Education approved specialist programs in our Aviation Academy and School of Screen and Media. All students in
Years 7 to 9 also study a language and have the opportunity to participate in activities associated without exchange partnership with sister schools in Japan and Singapore.
The successful applicant will ideally be dedicated, highly competent and passionate about Humanities subjects and the opportunities they provide for young people.
Ideally the successful applicant will have high expectations and demonstrate a commitment to excellence. They should be able to use a range of high impact strategies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment. As part of standard practice, the suitable applicant will be able to reflect upon and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practices and apply that knowledge to cater for different student learning needs. Being student-focused and collaborative, the applicant should be able to display positive learning outcomes for students across Years 7 to 12, providing relevant and engaging courses linked to the Western Australian Curriculum.
These skills will see you build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including colleagues and parents/caregivers. Applicants will be flexible and will work collaboratively with staff and students to provide an engaging and relevant learning environment to inspire and motivate students to learn. You will support the implementation of the school’s Business Plan, work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives and be focused on an evidence-based approach to teaching through data analysis and self-reflection. In this way, you will be able to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
