Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, collaborative and creative Music teacher. This position includes 0.1FTE IMSS (Instrumental Music School Services) time to coordinate the IMSS program. We are looking for a collaborative teacher who can continue to build on the current success of an established Music program.
You will be working in a highly motivated and collaborative Arts department who deliver high quality, engaging programs. We regularly plan for cross-curricular opportunities in the department and across the school, including with other Arts contexts and the Languages department. Byford SC offers specialised and general Music classes from Years 7 to 10 and Certificate II in Music Industry. Therefore, it would be highly regarded to hold the relevant qualifications.
We currently offer a wide variety of instruments and programs with a contemporary focus. We have a variety of contemporary rock ensembles, a choir, classical guitar ensemble and beginner concert band. Students also have experience in performing at community events.
Byford SC has modern facilities, including four band rehearsal rooms, two music classrooms equipped with keyboards and a state of the art Performing Arts Theatre. The department is well-equipped with instruments and technology to allow you to deliver engaging programs.
With strong links with the feeder primary schools, there is the potential to continue having shared performances and other collaborative opportunities. These primary schools have strong music programs with established IMSS programs in their schools and enjoy being involved in community events and performances.
Byford SC is a newer school in Perth’s southern suburbs. We have first class facilities to support high quality teaching and learning programs in our college. Located approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD, our College caters for 1500 students in Years 7 through to 12. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
