Coastal Lakes College (CLC) is seeking an Education Support Teacher to join their friendly team.

This position requires a flexible and reflective teacher, ideally with specialist knowledge and skills related to students with moderate to severe disability, including Intellectual Disability (ID), multiple physical disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Trauma.
Experience in supporting students with complex communication needs is highly desirable.
The successful applicant should be able to manage class teams and liaise with parents and therapists to meet the educational and care needs of their students. A Certificate 4 in Workplace Training & Assessment is desirable but not essential.
The successful applicant should share our commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and to the learning needs of all students. It is desirable for the successful applicant to have a working understanding of and a commitment to, Trauma Informed Practice.
The successful applicant should be able to develop, implement and review meaningful and appropriate Individual Education Plans that not only outline functional curriculum objectives, but that support the whole student through targeted social-emotional skills, life skills and Protective Behaviours curriculum.

Located in Lakelands, a south-western suburb of Perth in the City of Mandurah, CLC opened in 2019 and 2024 will be its first year catering for students in Years 7 to 12. Our Inclusive Education Hub boasts state of the art facilities for students with moderate to severe and profound disabilities, including a hydrotherapy pool, a sensory include indoor and outdoor sensory play spaces, life skills and physiotherapy rooms, a hydrotherapy pool and therapy consult spaces.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
