Broome Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Teacher to join our school in 2024.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Broome Senior High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $7,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

About the role
The successful applicant will ideally possess training and/or experience teaching Year 11 or 12 Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) HASS courses and also have experience and/or capacity to teach Year 7 to 10 HASS subjects. You will ideally have relevant curriculum knowledge and a willingness to work collaboratively in a strong team environment to engage in the teaching and learning of HASS courses for lower school and senior school. Experience in teaching students with varying literacy levels, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and those with special needs is highly desirable. Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Practice and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is also preferred but not essential.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
