Riva Primary School (PS) is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Primary Music Specialist Teacher to join our friendly team. Music education has the potential to transform lives, and, at Riva PS we believe that our students deserve a quality, ongoing music education to reach their potential and thrive.
The successful applicant will join our Music education team, with responsibility for classes across year levels, potentially from Kindergarten – Year 6. The successful applicant should be committed to promoting Music education and fostering student engagement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated. Ideally, the successful applicant will possess a comprehensive knowledge of the Arts (Music) Western Australian Curriculum, and professional knowledge and practices that integrate movement and singing into teaching and learning to develop a deep understanding of musical language and skills for all students, including those with diverse learning needs.
The successful applicant will ideally show awareness and experience of the Dalcroze Eurhythmics movement-based approach to Music education, and a willingness to further develop their skills and knowledge in this pedagogical framework. Kodály-inspired experience in the Primary context, including the use of the moveable doh solfa system, will also be highly regarded.
The successful applicant should be motivated, energetic and possess the qualities to promote excellence, build effective teams and implement innovative curriculum. They will ideally possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with our specialist teacher team.
Riva PS opened our doors in 2022 and is inclusive to all, including more than 80 students with disabilities. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
