We are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.
Teachers and School Administrators employed at Hedland Senior High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $10,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school

The Role
Hedland SHS is seeking a hardworking, dedicated, enthusiastic and innovative Education Support teacher for our Success Program as part of the BHP Pilbara Education Partnership.
The Success Program provides students with extensive wraparound support for their wellbeing and academic achievement. The program consists of students with complex needs who require strategic planning to support their skills in emotional self-regulation and improving attendance. The aim of the program is to create a clear pathway for students into further training or employment through functional literacy and numeracy skill development, while supporting their social and emotional needs.
The suitable applicants will provide high quality and relevant learning experiences for a small cohort of students at a range of year levels and abilities. They will develop and implement interventions, through individual programs that meet the academic, vocational and wellbeing needs of each student.
The Success Program staff work collaboratively across a range of classes and contexts to ensure there are positive outcomes for students engaged in the program. Staff combine their expertise and support one another to develop programs and implement interventions to support students to achieve.
The Ideal Applicant
The suitable applicants will ideally have proven outstanding behaviour management skills in a PBS environment and the ability to inspire students. They will have strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating genuine care and consideration for students’ individual needs, building a positive and safe learning environment. An ability to establish and maintain networks, fostering positive relationships with students, families and community, is essential.
The suitable applicants will ideally have experience in developing and implementing data-driven Individual Learning Plans, Functional Behaviour Assessments, and other targeted planning. Knowledge of the ABLES Curriculum, ASDAN, (Authority Developed Workplace Learning) Senior Secondary Courses (such as Preliminary Units for English and Mathematics) and understanding of Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Units of Competencies, would be advantageous.
A capacity to work effectively with Education Assistants, AIEOs, Student Support Officers, and the Success Program team will be essential in working to support the needs of our students
Success Program staff are given regular opportunities to access targeted professional learning building their capacity in supporting students at risk, focusing on academic, behavioural, social and emotional wellbeing intervention programs.
Primary and Education Support trained teachers and psychologists/social workers with teaching diplomas encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

Training
