We are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.

About the role
We are seeking energetic, highly motivated and highly skilled Teachers to join our dynamic team. The teacher will consistently reflect on their practice striving to develop to be part of our school team and value add to school improvement. The successful applicant will possess a profound understanding of current curriculum and pedagogy with an emphasis of evidenced based practices in explicit teaching techniques, within the teaching of the K-6 programs; Letters and Sounds, Heggerty, Talk for Writing, TopTen Numeracy, and experience in using an explicit phonological spelling program (within Years 3-6). A pedagogical understanding of the Reading Sciences, Rosenshine’s Principles, High Impact Teaching Strategies, Daily Reviews together with Cooperative Learning Strategies is preferred.
A thorough knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), National Quality Standards (NQS), the WA curriculum, Brightpath Writing and Numeracy Assessment tools, will be highly valued, as well as demonstrating expertise in the use of data driven practices that enable visible targeted differentiation in meeting the needs of all students. The successful applicants must have a sound knowledge of Aboriginal Education, support the Positive Behaviour in Schools (PBS) program and explicitly use Classroom Management Strategies (CMS).

Our school
Northam PS caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and currently have just over 300 students. Students come from the local town and the outlying farms and rural properties.
Northam PS fosters a safe and inclusive learning environment; we focus on building positive relationships with students, their parents and carers and with the wider community. The staff, comprising of newly graduated teachers through to teachers with many years of experience and our experienced and dedicated non-teaching staff, work together to develop individual student potential through excellence in education.

Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
