South Bunbury Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking a hard-working and enthusiastic Education Support Teacher to join their team!
South Bunbury ESC is seeking to establish a pool of teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2024.
About the role
Suitable applicants will ideally use explicit teaching strategies and exhibit effective classroom management skills to enhance student learning and wellbeing. Applicants should also be flexible, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning.
Teachers develop an integrated curriculum, differentiated to meet individual student needs. The ability to use ABLES data to develop Individual Education Plans created in SEN Planning, program using ABLEWA and the WA Curriculum and assess using school wide assessments and teacher developed assessments would be highly rated. Knowledge of PLD and Top Ten Maths would be of benefit.
We are seeking applicants who are hardworking and knowledgeable about a range of disabilities and the implementation of strategies to support and enhance individual development in all areas.
Knowledge of ASD and intellectual disabilities is an advantage as well as experience with Team Teach, trauma-informed practice, Functional Behaviour Assessment and PBS. Many students require alternative communication methods, and an understanding of PODD and communication devices would be advantageous. Suitable applicant’s will also, ideally have, highly effective teaching practices, an ability to self-reflect and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice.
Teachers in an education support environment positively manage a team of Education Assistants to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students. The successful applicant will engage with, and contribute to, the school community and work collaboratively with families, therapists and outside agencies to improve student outcomes.

South Bunbury ESC is a specialist setting which caters to the needs of students with a diagnosis of Intellectual Disability or Autism Spectrum Disorder with high educational need. We have a strong commitment to working with our community to support our students to 'Learn, Grow and Belong'. Our school is co-located with South Bunbury Primary School. Students and staff from both schools on the South Bunbury campus participate in a variety of in-school activities and excursions which provide numerous opportunities to learn from each other. Students are also supported to develop skills though activities and visits to locations within the local community.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
