Canning Vale College is looking to appoint a highly competent and dedicated English Teacher.
The successful applicant should have a deep belief that every student is capable of successful learning and exhibit highly effective teaching practices and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice.
An excellent knowledge of the West Australian Curriculum and a capacity to deliver content in an engaging manner are also desirable qualities. The ability to teach any of the following courses will be an advantage:
- ATAR English
- ATAR Literature
- General English
- General Literature
The successful applicant will ideally be able to display how they will provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve to their highest potential. In addition, the ability to engage students using a range of skills, knowledge of effective classroom management strategies and restorative practices will be considered favourably.
The ability and initiative to work well with your colleagues as part of a team to develop teaching strategies, resources and approaches to ensure each student can reach their maximum potential should be addressed in your application.
The successful applicant should have a growth mindset and be committed to the school’s Instructional Model which is based on practices that have a strong evidence base for their effectiveness. It is expected that all teachers will participate in the school’s Instructional Coaching program. Skills and knowledge in these areas will be an advantage.
A strong record of working in constructive collaboration with a variety of school teams will be a distinct advantage.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
