Joseph Banks Secondary College (SC) are seeking to appoint a dedicated and passionate Home Economics Teacher to join their growing team.
The successful applicant should be able to teach a range of courses in the variety of Home Economics contexts, including vocational courses and senior secondary level courses such as Children, Family and Community, and Food Science Technology. Joseph Banks SC also offers certificate courses to senior school students in Community Services, Hospitality and Early Childhood Education and Care. Applicants with a Certificate IV TAE and qualifications in a relevant area is highly desirable.
The successful applicant will ideally be a passionate and dedicated educator, highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. They should provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their skills, knowledge and understandings related to Home Economics. Our learning programs provide opportunities for students to make links between content and skill development, and enables students to be curious learners, supported by a variety of approaches to learning. As such, the successful applicant will ideally possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics.
The successful applicant should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning. You will ideally be innovative, knowledgeable and possess thorough understandings of instructional and curriculum expertise whilst keeping abreast of the latest developments within the Learning Area. You will also ideally be reflective in assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice and able to cultivate a safe and accountable learning environment, underpinning our core value of respect.
The successful applicant should have high expectations, a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive and engaging classroom-learning environment. You should be able to display an ability to work as a collaborative team member and be committed to the development of strong professional learning communities focussed on student achievement and success. You should also display an ability to assist the school in achieving a "culture of curiosity".
The successful applicant will ideally be a dedicated and highly motivated educator with an excellent knowledge of the Senior School Western Australian Curriculum, be able to deliver content in an engaging manner and be highly effective team members. As reflective practitioners, the successful applicant will ideally possess effective data literacy and a capacity to modify their practice to meet identified student needs. Strong knowledge and skills in the effective integration of innovative and engaging Information Communications and Technologies and cooperative learning instructional strategies is highly desirable.
Joseph Banks SC is an Independent Public School in the suburb of Banksia Grove, approximately 40 kilometres from the Perth Central Business District. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
