Appointment Pool
Henley Brook Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Kindergarten to Year 6 Teachers (including specialists) for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.
Our school will be built to accommodate 430 students in permanent buildings, and up to more than 700 students in transportable buildings from Kindergarten to Year 6, from within the rapidly growing suburbs of Brabham and Henley Brook (located in the Swan Valley, near Whiteman Park). We will strive to create a connected community, because when students feel connected to their teachers, and parents feel a connection with the school, students are best positioned to thrive.
The Leadership Team is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic teachers who will be committed to establishing a culture of excellence through collaboration and connection. Suitable applicants will ideally be flexible, solutions-focused, trustworthy, adaptable, and possess an openness and capacity for learning as we build our school from the ground up.
In partnership with families, our goal is for all students to make year on year growth. We will provide innovative and engaging learning experiences, which promote individual excellence and develops social responsibility. We aim to support the social, emotional and academic growth of each student through evidence-based practices, supportive learning environments and a strong pastoral care approach focusing on student well-being. Classrooms at Henley Brook PS will be appealing and welcoming, promoting a positive classroom tone. Clear routines and structures will be established, ensuring every student feels safe, secure and supported.
High performing learning communities consistently use evidence-based teaching and learning practices that prioritise the reflective use of data and embedded differentiation to support all students. Teachers at Henley Brook PS should adopt high impact teaching strategies and use ongoing formative assessment to provide feedback to students at the point of error, measure student progress, differentiate teaching and plan next steps in learning.
While literacy and numeracy will be priority areas; science, technology, physical education, the arts and humanities will be interwoven to ensure students receive a holistic, well-balanced education. The Science of Learning will shape our instructional framework which will include daily reviews and be built around the principles of Cognitive Load Theory. Our instructional framework will include explicit instruction of core knowledge and skills as well as provide opportunities for students to consolidate and deepen this knowledge through a range of rich learning experiences.
Teachers within our Early Childhood Education phase of learning should promote the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards. They should recognise that children need opportunities to interact and build trusting relationships. Programs should include planned, purposeful play, balanced with the explicit teaching of essential foundation skills and concepts.
Suitable applicants will ideally be committed to reflective teaching practices through active participation in a culture of professional growth. This will include coaching, classroom observation and feedback as well as teachers who are committed to their own professional learning to ensure they maintain and build on contemporary, evidence-based approaches. The Henley Brook PS teaching team will participate in whole school, phase of learning and curriculum teams to contribute and commit to a whole school approach to teaching and learning. Our educators should be committed to continuous self-improvement and building their leadership skills both within and beyond the classroom.
Teachers at Henley Brook PS will ideally embrace a culturally inclusive curriculum that reflects the cultural, linguistic and religious diversity of our school community. They will receive ongoing training and support to ensure a continued focus on culturally inclusive practices.
Effective relationships and partnerships promote positive outcomes for students. We are seeking teachers with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, which underpin professional and positive working relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community. At Henley Brook PS all stakeholders will work together to build a thriving learning community, where students are at the heart of everything we do.
