Halls Head College (HHC) is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Music Teacher to join their friendly team.
The successful applicant should be committed to promoting Music education and fostering student engagement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated. They will be responsible for delivering the school’s music program in line with the Music Curriculum and should be able to cater to differing learning styles and possess the necessary teaching and learning strategies used to engage and motivate all students. The college has an IMSS (Instrumental Music School Services) program and an active band and choir. Opportunities to perform, both formal and informal, are promoted and encouraged.
In addition to classroom teaching, the successful applicant will ideally have well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. As part of the Arts team, the ability to flex to or integrate other Arts contexts - whether performing or in the Visual Arts arena, would also be of value to help foster students’ general skills and understanding of the multi-faceted nature of the Arts. We are uniquely situated on the 'island' of Halls Head just south of Mandurah. The local intake area is south, close to the Waroona Shire boundary and our partner primary schools are Glencoe, Halls Head, Falcon, South Halls Head and Ocean Road.
In the first instance, only applicants with teaching qualifications will be considered, though untrained teachers are still encouraged to apply. Where there are no suitable applicants with teaching qualifications, applicants without teaching qualifications may be considered.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
