Appointment Pool
Wellard Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.
Suitable applicants should work as collaborative members of a vibrant professional learning community and have the skills to teach across a variety of year levels. They will ideally have a high level of community engagement and understand how to build positive relationships with students, staff, families and external agencies. We are seeking teachers with high expectations who truly believe that all children can learn and be successful, and who pursue excellence in their teaching. Suitable applicants should be committed to putting students first in their decision-making and undertaking the hard work that is inherent in delivering a motivating and quality educational program. They should believe that exemplary, evidence-based teaching practices lead to successful students and high standards of achievement. Through performance management, teachers will ideally use student performance data, particularly in literacy and numeracy, to demonstrate a years’ worth of progress from a years’ worth of teaching, for every child.
Suitable applicants will ideally be confident in the application of digital technologies integration across the curriculum to enhance student outcomes.

Wellard PS utilise peer and classroom observations to support professional development. As part of this role you will work as a member of a collaborative planning team, be committed to sharing your practice and to ongoing professional development. Teachers who have additional expertise, skills and knowledge that can add value to the development of whole school programs will be viewed favourably.
Applicants should support major school directions and be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives. An understanding of, and commitment to, ‘High Impact Classroom Instruction’ is highly desirable. The learning environment you create should be engaging, challenging, and caring, and cater for the range of needs which will see all students making progress. You will ideally use effective behaviour management strategies to establish and maintain an organised, orderly and learning-focused classroom.
Successful applicants should display knowledge and understanding of the effective use of explicit teaching strategies and participation tactics and be dedicated and committed to improving student learning through continual teacher development and accountability. Applicants who have experience in implementing Prime Mathematics, Talk4writing, Spelling Mastery, Sounds Write and Heggerty programs are encouraged to apply.

Wellard PS opened in 2018 and expects to commence 2023 with 840 students from Kindergarten to Year Six. Our school provides the local community with state-of-the-art educational facilities and a range of whole school teaching programs to support all students in their learning and development. The goal for Wellard PS is to develop resilient students who are literate, numerate, and curious learners.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
