Appointment Pool
Maddington Education Support Centre (ESC) are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.
Maddington ESC is seeking dedicated and reliable teachers to join our team. Suitable applicants will utilise innovative initiatives and be able to work effectively within and lead a dynamic team. Ideally teachers will need to be able to work with a variety of age-groups as we run a rotation system, which relies on 1:1 Individual education program (IEP) goals, so you could have to work with students of all ages with various diagnoses.
Maddington ESC is committed to providing safe and secure learning environments for all our students. We explicitly teach students how to self-regulate or ‘to empty their bucket’. Our Values are incorporated into all aspects of learning, and through our 1:1 rotations, which uses a direct instruction model.
It is desirable for applicants to have experience and knowledge of working with students with special needs. It would also be desirable for them to have skills and experiences in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Strategies, Direct Instruction, Key Word Sign, TouchChat (and other alternative communication strategies both electronic and low-tech versions) ICT (including the use of iPads, computers and interactive screens). 123 Magic for behaviour support and Trauma informed practice experience will be highly regarded. Special Education Needs reporting and Abilities Based Learning Education (ABLEWA) curriculum knowledge is also highly desirable.
Maddington ESC caters for students in years K - 6. Our students have varying degrees of intellectual and/or physical disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. We share a Campus with Maddington Primary School in the suburb of Maddington.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
