We are seeking to establish a pool of Directors (Public School Review) for appointments to fixed term (short or long term), full-time vacancies (up to a maximum of five (5) years in duration), which may arise during 2023 and 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time during 2023 or 2024 and will be made based on business needs and individual position requirements. While the position is based in East Perth, applicants residing in other Western Australian locations will be considered.
The Role
Directors, Public School Review draw on their expertise in public education to analyse and validate school self-assessments against a set of standards, to provide assurances to school communities and the Department that schools are performing as expected.
Directors, Public School Review select peer reviewers with contextual school experience and collaborate closely with the Public School Accountability team to moderate consistency in the delivery of Public School Reviews.
To be successful in this role, you will understand the review criteria, the application of consistently applying the Standard - Public School Review, and evidence expectations to enable schools to understand their requirements in relation to conducting a review.
The ability to strategically select review teams and lead with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills will be key to this role. You will maintain, promote, and model ethical practice, and appropriate standards and conduct.
As a Director, Public School Review, you will be required to travel state-wide across all public school education settings and maintain a schedule of Public School Reviews and related activities.

Our Branch
The Public School Accountability directorate has a specific role to conduct reviews to provide assurance that a school is operating effectively and delivering high-quality education to its students. The review acknowledges achievements of the school and provides feedback to support the principal and staff with their improvement planning. Public School Reviews are conducted in all Western Australian public schools.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching, have school leadership experience and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete
- the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- training specific to this role required by Department policy, and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
