The Midwest education region is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic psychologist to be based in Carnarvon, part of Western Australia’s Coral Coast.
As a school psychologist with the Midwest, you will be joining a regional team of around 16 psychologists from early career through to many years of experience. You will be providing service to Carnarvon Community College and other schools within the region as required.
As a school psychologist in public education, you will play a key role in supporting students, parents, teachers and school administrators, making a difference in the lives of children and young people, and helping them reach their full potential.
Working in the key areas of mental health and wellbeing, learning and disability, behaviour, incident management and organisational change, the work of the school psychologist is as diverse as the settings in public schools. Your work will be a combination of direct work with children and young people, consultation with staff and supporting schools with whole school change with no two days being the same.

- salary range of $83,312 - $92,272 (provisional registration), $96,747 - $134,404 (general registration)

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements (selection criteria):
- Ability to implement school psychology services and programs in an educational environment to maximise student learning outcomes.
- Knowledge of the implementation and evaluation of a variety of psychological approaches appropriate for individual, group and system-level intervention.
- High level written and oral communication skills, demonstrating the capacity to produce correspondence, reports and case notes, and interview and training (facilitation) skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, which demonstrate an ability to function in a self-directed way, and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with a range of clients across the lifespan, Department personnel and inter-agency partners across a variety of contexts.
- Ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment and analysis, intervention and evaluation.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:

- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
