Appointment Pool
Kalamunda Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic and passionate Science Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.
Suitable applicants will ideally be innovative and highly motivated educators with the ability to provide quality teaching in the Science curriculum area as part of dedicated team. They should have a passion for their curriculum area and a deep understanding of instructional strategies to effectively engage students in the learning process. They will ideally be a reflective practitioner who actively engages in activities to improve your professional practice. Ability to teach Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking (ATAR) Science courses will be highly desirable.
Suitable applicants will ideally possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be collaborative members of the whole school community, embracing the school’s vision, values and strategic directions.
The school also operates a Year 7 Learning Team which provides a nurturing environment for students to smoothly transition to high school. Teachers in this team teach both Science and Mathematics to two Year 7 classes, while also teaching a senior school class in their major curriculum area. Applicants who are interested in teaching in this team are also encouraged to apply as are primary trained teachers and those who are undertaking or have completed the secondary Learning Enrichment Achievement Program (LEAP).
Kalamunda SHS has an enviable reputation developed over 63 years of providing a quality education to all students. The school is proud of its outstanding achievement in the Gifted and Talented Visual Arts program, which is complemented by excellence in academic achievement, languages (Italian, Indonesian and Japanese), a specialist program in Outdoor Education and highly regarded Music and school based Performing Arts program.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
