Appointment Pool
Glencoe Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of Kindergarten to Year 1 (K-1) Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 4, 2024.
Suitable applicants should be passionate and self-motivated educators who are dedicated to promoting the school’s beliefs, values, moral purpose and “Truth and Friendship” motto. A commitment to supporting the improvement of literacy and numeracy outcomes for students through whole-school approaches, explicit teaching and instructional strategies is highly desirable.
Glencoe PS facilitates a range of programs across the school such as Diana Rigg PLD (Preventing Literacy Difficulties) Literacy, Talk for Writing, Zones of Regulation, Positive Behaviour Schools (PBS) and Primary Connections. Suitable applicants will also ideally be proficient in fostering positive and productive relationships with all members of the school community.
Glencoe PS is currently in a transformational phase with regards to curriculum development. Suitable applicants will ideally possess proficiency in current and effective evidence-based teaching practices, strong understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum and be supportive of the school’s strategic goals and directions for child-centered learning. We are seeking teachers who are creative in their approach and recognize student individualities and cultural diversity. The ideal applicants will provide an inclusive and differentiated classroom environment that supports children’s learning and development.
Suitable applicants should have high expectations and value planning in collaborative teams to develop consistent, high-quality teaching and learning programs. It is desirable that suitable applicants possess a high level of collaborative practice, together with interpersonal skills, to enable effective participation and engagement within the school in working towards progressing our improvement agenda. A thorough understanding of processes to support the systematic analysis of student performance data and associated target setting is also highly desirable. Suitable applicants will ideally possess a growth mindset with an emphasis on a solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
Glencoe PS has strong established partnerships with the local community and organisations. There is an emphasis on pastoral care and health and wellbeing for staff and students. Our PBS philosophy underpins our approach to managing student behaviour, which includes both preventative and restorative strategies.
Our school grounds are attractive, featuring well-kept gardens and highly practical teaching and learning spaces; including environments that are suitable for outdoor education. The school has a well-resourced library, purpose built dedicated Science laboratory, Art Room, Music Room, two undercover areas, vegetable gardens, canteen, nature playgrounds and computer laboratory. There are also extensive grassed play areas, hard courts for basketball, and a range of contemporary play facilities.

Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
