About the role
Narembeen DHS is looking for a high school Mathematics educator to join their dedicated and professional team for a twelve-month fixed contract with high possibility of both extension and permanency. We are a high performing school situated 270km east of Perth. Our mission is to ensure that all students are challenged to pursue excellence and attain their full potential through engagement in quality learning programs. Leadership is fostered, creativity nurtured, individuality respected, and values developed and promoted. Our students are motivated to learn, and we strive to achieve excellent results academically, on the sports field and socially. As a K - 10 school, we have seamless transition into our high school and our older students are wonderful role models. The behaviour of our students in all year levels is exemplary and we are proud of the standards we uphold. We can spend all our time making a difference as teachers as the management of behaviour is not an issue.
The staff are a professional team who provide a supportive culture and a positive work environment. We completed our Public School Review in 2021, and the staff, passionate about supporting every child’s learning goals, were rewarded with the acknowledgement that “The performance of your school, determined through your self-assessment and validated by the review team, has been confirmed to be outstanding.” In 2022, we won the Department of Education Excellence in Teaching and Learning (Primary) Award, recognition for the great work we have done to ensure that the culture of our school is second to none.
The successful applicant should be enthusiastic about impacting the lives of students, have an excellent knowledge of the WA Mathematics Curriculum and teaching pedagogy to meet the needs of students from a minimum of Years 7 – 10. This knowledge combined with the pedagogical skills will enable the development of programs differentiated for the specific learning needs of all students across the full range of abilities. They should be a flexible and adaptive teacher, able to apply the strategies of differentiated instruction. They would need to be able to provide engaging programs which would facilitate students learning in Mathematics, across all levels, ensuring that students potential was reached.
They must have high expectations, a commitment to excellence, a range of pedagogies and the ability to establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment. Applicants will be joining a progressive and enthusiastic team of teachers who are engaged in implementing whole school approaches to the educational programs offered, therefore they would need to demonstrate the ability to work as a productive member of, and collegially with, other members of the team. They would also need to be organised and able to work independently as their own head of learning area, as although there would be support, they would be the only teacher of high school mathematics. Finally, they would need to be improvement focused and willingly participate in ongoing professional learning opportunities and continually reflect on their own teaching practice to enhance student learning and achievement outcomes.
