Appointment Pool
Kalamunda Secondary Education Support Centre (KSESC) is seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.
Suitable applicants should be committed to excellence in teaching and ideally be highly skilled in classroom and behaviour management practices. As a Teacher in an Education Support environment you will be responsible for positively managing a team of Education Assistants, within their classroom.
Whilst not essential, it is highly desirable for applicants to have experience in an Education Support setting and knowledge of the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Operational Framework. Suitable applicants should possess a strong knowledge of effective, evidence-based pedagogical practices relevant to the education support context.
Suitable applicants will ideally be able to use a range of assessment and reporting methods that show student achievement in relation to learning outcomes and possess the ability to plan purposeful, relevant and authentic learning experiences that cater for diverse student learning needs. They should also utilise high quality teaching practices in the areas of school priority to support positive behavioural/social-emotional, literacy and numeracy outcomes for students with disabilities.
Located in the beautiful Perth hills, KSESC is a school for students with mild to severe intellectual disabilities. While this criterion is the primary basis for enrolment, students typically present with a broader range of disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorders, psychological disorders and physical disabilities. The diversity of disability, combined with the specific learning needs of individuals, creates a dynamic and complex learning environment that requires a collaborative approach towards meeting all student needs.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
