Appointment Pool
Churchlands Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of First Aid Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2024.
The First Aid Officer is the primary contact for the management and administration of First Aid in the School. Suitable applicants will contribute to the welfare of students, staff, and volunteers by providing first aid as needed and within their level of training, experience, the Department’s provisions on first aid in the workplace and the relevant Occupational Safety and Health Legislation.
This role will require suitable applicants to supervise students with self-administration of prescribed medication as documented, as well as coordinate with parents/guardians to collect sick or injured students and remain with students until their parent/guardian arrives. Suitable applicants will report injuries to the Principal and maintain a record of all injuries and illnesses where first aid has been provided and act as a central point for communication and coordination between first aiders.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Relevant knowledge and expertise in First Aid and associated qualifications.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels and in emergency situations.
- Experience in effective record management, activity recording and ability to use a range of software applications.
- Sound organisational skills to develop effective administrative practices with the ability to work independently and to seek support when required and implement recommendations.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Hold a current certificate in Occupational First Aid (HLTSS00068)
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
