Harrisdale Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a teacher of The Arts - Dance with the experience, dedication and drive, to develop a culture of excellence in teaching and learning.
The successful applicant should be enthusiastic, creative and passionate in regards to Dance. Experience in Health and Physical Education is also desirable. They will ideally work with a team approach to contributing to and supporting the collaborative approach already in place to further develop a culture of excellence in the Dance teaching and learning program.
The successful applicant should possess highly effective interpersonal skills, be student and relationship focused, innovative and motivated. They should also have an inclusive approach with strong teaching and classroom management skills and the ability to challenge and engage all students, promoting an environment of active and positive learning.
Harrisdale SHS is one of the largest schools in Western Australia, drawing its student enrolment from diverse geographic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. With a student population more than 2000 and approximately 200 teaching staff and 100 support staff on campus, the school is inclusive and comprehensive, providing courses for Years 7 to 12. It is the school of choice for many local and international families.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
