Appointment Pool
Darling Range Sports College (SC) is seeking to establish a pool of English Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2024.
Darling Range SC is looking for teachers with strong teaching and classroom management skills who can develop sound relationships with all students and engage them in highly effective learning. You should incorporate a diverse range of thinking strategies into the learning program. You should foster a love of reading of complex texts and for students to write in a style suited to the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) English courses. In addition, you should be able to work in a team environment, engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks.
Suitable applicants should be able to teach Year 7 to 10 English, and ideally ATAR English to Year 12. Ideally, they will also have sound knowledge of the requirements of the Western Australian Curriculum and have a keen passion to extend our gifted and talented students.
Darling Range SC is located approximately 15 kms east of the city centre in the foothills of Perth. The College is experiencing rapid growth and is seen as a school of choice by the local community, and by students from across the state who enrol in our specialist sports programs.

Darling Range SC provides sporting programs in AFL, Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, Netball, Soccer, Swimming, Triathlon and Rugby. Complementing our sporting programs are extensive opportunities to participate in the Academic Challenge and Enrichment Program ‘ACES’, the Music Program, the Vocational Educational Program and the Arts Program.
A major focus of the College is also the implementation of Explicit Instruction across all learning areas. Experience using Explicit Instruction in the classroom is not a prerequisite for this position, but the successful applicant should display a willingness to incorporate this into their teaching practice. Knowledge or completion of CMS (Classroom Management Strategies) and IS (Instructional Strategies) professional workshops would also be highly desirable.

- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
