Teacher - Health and Physical Education
Pool Ref IPS/TCH810448
Teacher, $78,397 - $113,568 per annum (SEA GA 2021)

Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/TCH810448

Appointment Pool

Darling Range Sports College (DRSC) is seeking to establish a pool of Health and Physical Education Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2024.

DRSC has a successful high profile specialist sports program with a significant public image. Successful applicants should ideally have outstanding communication skills and an ability to successfully engage a diverse range of students including state and national sporting representatives.

We are looking to further expand our swimming program, so applicants with recent and relevant experience in coaching swimming, would be desirable.

Part of this role requires travel: applicants who hold a bus licence or are willing to obtain one are encouraged to apply. The role may entail after hours’ commitment to coaching and competition.

The successful applicant should have strong communication and organisational skills, as well as the ability to be reflective of themselves and their practice.

DRSC is located approximately 15 kms east of the Perth city centre in the foothills of Perth. The College is experiencing rapid growth and is seen as a school of choice by the local community, and by students from across the state who enrol in our specialist sports programs.

DRSC provides sporting programs in AFL, Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, Netball, Soccer, Swimming, Triathlon and Rugby. Complementing our sporting programs are extensive opportunities to participate in the Academic Challenge and Enrichment Program ‘ACES’, the Music Program, the Vocational Educational Program and the Arts Program.

A major focus of the College is also the implementation of Explicit Instruction across all learning areas. Experience using Explicit Instruction in the classroom is not a prerequisite for this position, but the successful applicant should possess a willingness to incorporate this into their teaching practice. Knowledge or completion of CMS (Classroom Management Strategies) and IS (Instructional Strategies) professional workshops would also be highly desirable.

DRSC is a Positive Behaviour School (PBS) so an understanding of this process and how it is implemented and embedded in the day-to-day operations and behaviours in the school would be desirable.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

Applications will be assessed against these domains. The business needs of the school may also be considered. It is therefore recommended that you consider all information contained in the advertisement and any other related information before applying for the vacancy.

Applicants currently completing the Department of Education Leap program (formerly known as the Switch program) can apply for vacancies using their current or Leap qualification – even if they have not completed the program at the time of applying. Applicants may be appointed to a vacancy based on the qualification being completed via the Leap program.

The Department is an equal opportunity employer and encourages people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and persons from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.
