Gosnells Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and conscientious Teacher - Specialist Learning Program (SLP) - Autism to join our friendly and supportive team.
The successful applicant will work collaboratively within a close knit team of educators to achieve individual curriculum and student self-regulation goals, with the support of our dedicated Program Coordinator. This is a unique opportunity to work in a specialised teaching position within our SLP for children with Autism and experience in this setting will be highly regarded.
Gosnells PS is home to the very first SLP for students with Autism. This successful program provides specialist and intensive support to students with Autism - without intellectual impairment - who have the capacity to learn at or near their academic year level standard with support but may have specific social and emotional development needs that are related to their Autism.
Gosnells PS proudly caters for over 400 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 with three of its classes dedicated specifically to the SLP. The school is known for being highly supportive with proactive and caring leadership, dedicated and collaborative staff and a family friendly culture focused on student success and wellbeing. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
