In this role you will be a highly valued member of our staff, supporting a variety of classes and students throughout the week. The Ideal Teacher
The successful applicant will ideally be highly effective in engaging and motivating students through creating an exciting and challenging learning environment. You will ideally possess excellent interpersonal skills and work closely with students, staff and the community to achieve positive educational outcomes for all students you work with. The successful applicant will work as part of a dedicated team to develop, review and deliver relevant curriculum across all levels from Year 7 to 12. You should have strong teaching and classroom management skills and a proven capacity to develop positive relationships with all students.
The successful applicant will ideally have a sound understanding of the developmental needs of students at all phases of the Western Australian Curriculum and will be skilled in differentiating the curriculum to meet the academic needs of all students. There is a strong focus on data analysis and skills in evidence-based planning to improve outcomes for all students. A commitment to explicit teaching is an expectation of all teaching staff at the school. There is also an expectation that all teachers at the school engage in reflective practice, informed by classroom observation, student feedback surveys and close interrogation of student performance data. Support and training are provided for these key areas.

The Location and Community
Geraldton SHS is located next to the city centre in a parkland environment, the school is an architectural highlight of Geraldton. It caters for students in Years 7 to 12 and offers a diverse range of academic, vocational, social and service programs for its student population of around 1000 students.
The City of Greater Geraldton (CGG) is one of 9 regions of WA and has much to offer in terms of sport, culture and tourism. With a population of approximately 40,000, the CGG covers an area of approximately 472,000 square kilometres and includes the towns of Mullewa and Walkaway. Apart from the significant sporting and cultural activities on offer, Geraldton itself is renowned for its quality lifestyle. Geraldton is the centre of the WA rock lobster industry along with the productive agricultural region that extends to the north, south and east of the city. An important part of the town is the Geraldton Port Authority which is responsible for moving a significant variety of produce such as grain, mineral sands, iron ore and other goods.
