This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2023

Cape Naturaliste College is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Human Resource Officer to join their friendly team.

The Human Resource Officer will provide advice and support in the coordination of human resource activities and operations. This will include managing job vacancies, including the coordination of deployment, recruitment, selection and appointment processes. You will coordinate leave and relief management; coordinate the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS), assist in the implementation of staff inductions, probation and performance management, as well as providing human resource advice and information to staff.

The successful applicant will ideally have sound written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, will be highly organised, have the ability to solve problems, meet deadlines, and implement strategy and manage Human Resource systems and processes and manage administrative support processes within the Student Services team.

Cape Naturaliste College was established in 2008 after extensive consultation with members of the community and that strong community involvement continues to this day. The College began its journey as a middle school, with a strong belief in the value of teamwork and a spirit of collaboration that has come to pervade the school ethos. Over time, a visibly strong sense of belonging and pride in the College has grown along with a significant expansion to the breadth and sophistication of the College's facilities, along with its ceremonies, extra-curricular activities, musical and sporting events. Cape Naturaliste College has consistently shown the resilience to adapt to new challenges whilst maintaining the essence of its culture.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of human resource management systems and processes.
  • Sound written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with staff and work within a team environment.
  • Sound knowledge and skills in human resource management, including research, planning and recruitment practices.
  • Conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to implement appropriate strategies.

  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • Complete the Department’s induction program within 3 months of commencement;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by departmental policy;
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within 6 months of appointment
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
