Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/TCH802257
This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2023
Please be aware that as of 2:30pm on Monday, 23 January 2023, the closing date has been extended.
Kinross College will expand to commence its first Year 11 cohort in 2024 and Year 12 in 2025 and is seeking to appoint a Humanities and Social Sciences - Economics (HASS) Teacher for appointment to a permanent, full-time position commencing in 2023. Previous experience and demonstrated capacity to teach Economics in an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) context would be advantageous but is not required.
The successful applicant should ideally be an expert, passionate teacher of HASS, with demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. You should be able to demonstrate the professional knowledge, understanding and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary HASS curriculum from the early and middle adolescent phases of learning through to senior secondary courses.
As a teacher at Kinross College, you will work as part of a dedicated team and have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the College community. Suitable applicants should be flexible, creative, and forward thinking, and exhibit their passion for HASS. They will ideally be confident in teaching students across Years 7 to 12 with particular focus on providing relevant and engaging courses linking to the Western Australian Curriculum. Suitable applicants should have high expectations, and display a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment. They should also be flexible and adaptive and be able to apply the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching. They will ideally also be able to incorporate current and emerging technologies to best meet the needs of our students based on researched informed practice.
With ideally effective interpersonal skills, and a willingness to adopt a ‘restorative’ approach, suitable applicants will work with students, teachers, and the community to instil our school values, allowing students to achieve their full potential.
The expanding enrolment numbers over recent years indicate the numerous specialist academic and sporting programs offered by the school are resulting in the College becoming a highly preferred public school option. Many parents are now choosing Kinross College over a wide range private school alternative.
The College continues to upgrade its facilities. A third round of recently completed upgrades, will support the future expansion into Years 11 and 12, as well as resulting in outstanding student and staff facilities.
Please note that due to the time of the year, there can be a flexible start date in negotiation with the successful applicant and their current workplace if required.
