Appointment Pool

Merredin College is seeking to establish a pool of Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) and English Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Merredin College in 2023 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $7,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school. 

This position requires teaching HASS and English across the secondary years (Years 7 – 12). Suitable applicants will ideally be organised, approachable and work well in a team environment.

Suitable applicants will have a student-centred approach to teaching with the capacity to provide learning experiences that are inclusive and maximise the utilisation of technology in the classroom. The ability and willingness to work as a team member to support the school’s priorities is required. We are seeking individuals who inspires passion for learning in others and enjoys a real sense of achievement. The ability to analyse student performance data and use this in planning is highly desirable.

Merredin is located 298kms east of Perth and has a population of around 3000 people. We are a K-12 school giving students and families the opportunity to complete their schooling at the one school whilst learning close to home. Merredin has many shops and sporting clubs/facilities along with nature trails and caters for cultural experiences as well.

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
