Manjimup Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of  English Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2024.

We have three (3) positions available for commencement:

  • 2 x - Permanent full-time position/s
  • 1 x – Fixed Term full -time position/s

Manjimup SHS is seeking to appoint passionate, performance driven and reflective English teachers that work effectively with their colleagues to promote strong educational outcomes for students. In particular, suitable applicants will ideally have the capacity to improve student literacy, effectively manage student behaviour and engage in the collaborative processes that underpin the culture of the English team.

Suitable applicants, therefore, should ideally have proven collaborative abilities in developing secondary English teaching and learning programs. You should also possess the instructional skills to facilitate improved student outcomes and engender high expectations for all students. Suitable applicants will ideally display commitment to differentiating the curriculum to provide appropriate learning interventions and support as required.

Suitable applicants will work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students within an organised and efficient English Learning Area. You will be expected to teach lower and/or upper secondary classes and should have the capacity to engage reluctant learners.

Manjimup SHS is a Year 7 to 12 Independent Public School that consistently performs above expectations. It has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and a committed and highly competent workforce. Established in 1957 the school is recognised for its high achievement and flexible approach to education and training. Manjimup SHS is the only Senior High School in the inland corridor of the Southwest Education Region.

Surrounded by forests and a diverse rural landscape, Manjimup has an excellent range of commercial services and a reputation as a clean green place to live. Manjimup is an easy drive from Perth where tourism and agriculture are significant growth areas. The school is part of the multi-purpose campus comprising Manjimup Primary School, Manjimup Education Support Centre, South West Campus of Technical and Further Education (TAFE) and it has an established partnership with Edith Cowan University.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
