Willetton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of English teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
We are looking for passionate and dedicated English teachers who are committed to providing excellent educational outcomes for all students. The ability to engage all students and differentiate for a range of abilities is important. Teachers should use data and evidence-based planning to inform practice and use digital technologies effectively in the classroom.
We are ideally seeking teachers with an understanding of the Year 7 to 10 Western Australian Curriculum: English. Experience teaching Modified, Extension and Gifted and Talented Lower School courses will be highly regarded. In addition, the ability to successfully teach Senior School General and Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) courses, and experience teaching Literature is highly desirable. Teachers should set high expectations for students at all levels.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills are important, applicants should display the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, parents, colleagues, and the school community.
Applicants should be committed to working in a large team environment and to planning, delivering curriculum, and assessing in a collaborative manner. Applicants should show an interest in contributing to Learning Area and whole school priorities and display leadership skills.
Willetton SHS is one of the largest schools in Western Australia, drawing its student enrolment from diverse geographic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. With a student population in excess of 2600 and approximately 220 teaching staff and 120 support staff on campus the school is inclusive and comprehensive providing courses for Years 7 to 12. Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
