Mount Lawley Senior High School is seeking to establish a pool of inspirational and dedicated Home Economics teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year.

Applicants should have a focus on high performance and high care and will demonstrate professional knowledge, practical application and understanding of the curriculum from Years 7 – 12.  Suitable applicants will embrace and commit to the school’s Ethos and Vision.  They will be expert in engaging students and provide a learning environment that facilitates students at all levels achieving their full potential.  Teachers at Mount Lawley are expected to embrace the school’s Pedagogical Framework (attached).

A Certificate II in Hospitality and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is highly desirable.

The work of staff will reflect a personal commitment to the values of the school:  excellence, respect, perseverance and learning. There is an expectation that staff engage in reflective practice, informed by a close examination of student performance incorporating data for relevant improvement plans.  Teachers will work collaboratively with peers and within their various teams as part of a professional learning community.

All staff employed by the school have a focus on pastoral care, students’ well-being and a commitment to forming positive working relationships with students and colleagues. Staff will engage with parents to assist student learning and ensure there are no surprises about student progress.

Founded in 1955, Mount Lawley Senior High School is located within 5 kilometres north of the Perth CBD. It comprises three sub-schools; Middle School - Years 7 & 8, Upper School - Years 9 & 10 and Senior School - Years 11 & 12. It hosts a Gifted and Talented Languages program, an approved Specialist Visual and Performing Arts program, a Jazz Music program and the innovative Aboriginal Excellence Program. The school offers a breadth of curriculum choices and has a rich history of student success and achievement. 

A major strength of the school is its strong links and partnerships with parents and the broader community. All staff at Mount Lawley Senior High School are committed to the provision of learning programs that cater for all post-school destinations including university, State Training Providers and employment.
