This is a permanent part-time (0.75FTE) position commencing in Term 3, 2022.
Can you inspire a passion for lifelong learning in little ones?
Byford Community Kindergarten is seeking to appoint a highly dedicated and motivated teacher in Early Childhood Education.
A community kindergarten is a kindergarten that operates in a purpose built building that is not located on the school site. They offer an alternative to school-based on-site kindergartens and typically operate in facilities that are leased from local government. They provide kindergarten programs for children who turn four years of age by 30 June in the year they attend.
The management of community kindergartens is shared between the Parent Management Committee and the Kindergarten Teacher who work very closely together. The community based kindergartens teacher and program are under the authority of the Department of Education, and the principal at the local linked school, being Byford Primary School, is the line manager. Kindergarten children from the Community Kindy have exactly the same access to the local school as the school based Kindy have. There may also be an option of increasing the FTE of this position if the successful applicant is willing to work on the Byford Primary School site as well.
The successful applicant will ideally be highly motivated and energetic, and possess the qualities to promote excellence, build effective teams and implement an innovative curriculum. You should have Early Childhood qualifications to match the position. You will ideally possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and display the ability to work in a highly collaborative manner.
The Byford Community Kindergarten is located in Park Road, Byford on a picturesque site surrounded by the natural environment. The education program is delivered with a focus on play and early literacy and numeracy development. A teacher-in-charge of a Community Kindergarten accepts and manages additional areas of responsibility including enrolments and providing advice and support to the parent management committee on areas such as budgetary requirements, building management and works, activities and events. In recognition of the additional administrative duties that teachers-in-charge in community kindergartens undertake, they are eligible for a Special Responsibility Allowance Band 2. For full details on the responsibilities and functions of a teacher-in-charge at a Community Kindergarten please see the Community Kindergarten Guidelines attached.
