Hammond Park Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent and engaging Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Teacher with excellent interpersonal skills to join their friendly and dynamic team.
The successful applicant will ideally have an in depth understanding of the WA HASS curriculum in lower school, and a range of senior school experiences in Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and General Pathways is desirable. A background in History would be beneficial.
The position requires a teacher who ideally has excellent interpersonal skills and can foster positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including students, staff and community members. We require a teacher who has the skills to collaborate across learning areas to create innovative learning opportunities for our students, and contributes positively to our college culture.
Hammond Park SC has an Instructional Framework based on High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS), and a Performance Growth and Coaching Framework based on coaching and continuous feedback. The position requires a teacher willing to grow and learn our instructional approaches and be open to observations and feedback in a supportive culture of shared practice and learning from one another.
The College also places wellbeing at the centre of what we do and has a Wellbeing Framework based on the Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Achievement and Health (PERMAH) principles. PERMAH influences our policies and procedures, and forms the curriculum taught in our Homeroom Program and within learning areas. Staff and student wellbeing is a priority and working from our strengths is important.
Located in Hammond Park on Irvine Parade, the college opened in 2020 to Year 7 Students. The college buildings include state of the art classrooms, a library, administration and extensive student services area. The college also features specialist facilities for performing and visual arts, science laboratories, food and textiles, design and technology workshops and a gymnasium. The cafeteria is the hub of the central precinct and provides indoor and outdoor seating, landscaped gardens and open spaces. Multipurpose courts and oval were also included in the first stage of the build.
Stage 2 of construction will open in 2023 and include additional learning area classrooms, sports courts and playing fields. In 2022 the college will have up 600 students in Years 7-9.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.
