Harrisdale Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint an ideally experienced, dedicated and professional Attendance School Officer to join our Corporate Services Team.
The successful applicant will ideally have excellent focus on team work, self-motivation, and initiative and model excellence in customer service delivery and administrative support. They should have strong organisational skills and be able to deliver outcomes while working to deadlines in a complex and fast paced environment.
The Attendance School Officer will assist with administrative processes and provision of information to students, staff and parents, ensuring a responsive and effective student support service. You will assist with the implementation of a range of school attendance strategies whilst keeping accurate and up to date records.
The Attendance School Officer will ideally possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work in collaboration with our administrative team. Qualities such as a thorough knowledge of Department of Education databases, records management systems and financial knowledge to support the Manager of Corporate Services are highly desirable.
Harrisdale SHS offers a wonderful opportunity for local students to access a high-quality secondary education close to home. Currently, the school has an enrolment of 2,061 students in Years 7 to 12. This year the “Year 7 Class of 2017” will graduate as Year 12 students.
Harrisdale is a rapidly growing suburb located approximately 28 kilometres south of the Perth CBD. The school is located on Laverton Crescent, adjacent to the City of Armadale's new playing fields and sports pavilion and Harrisdale Primary School.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
- Ability to liaise with stakeholders to achieve improved outcomes for adolescents.
- Ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Effective planning and organisational skills and experience in providing administrative support.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by departmental policy;
- Complete the department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
