Riverside Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and committed Education Support Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2023.
Suitable applicants will provide a supported functional & academic learning environment for students with disabilities. You will work towards continuous improvement of school programs and develop a highly skilled and proficient workforce. Applicants will ideally have experience managing Education Assistants (EA) in a classroom setting with the ability to plan within the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) Curriculum Framework. In this role suitable applicants will individualise curriculum to meet Individual Education Plans (IEP) and educational outcomes.
Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communications Handicapped Children (TEACCH) experience would be highly regarded, in addition to the ability to plan IEPs and dynamic ability to plan individualised learning outcomes. A good understanding of diagnosed conditions such as: ID (Intellectual Disability), ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and Mental Health, and how they impact on student learning, is highly regarded.
Applicants should be strong team players and be able to manage a classroom of support staff (EAs) effectively and efficiently. Education Support experience in a Primary setting will be well regarded. You should be able to work effectively and efficiently with parents, carers, therapists and a range of other Professionals along with having a good understanding of Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) Standards and the ability to develop self.

Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
