Huntingdale Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated, creative and innovative Teacher of Music to join their friendly team.
The successful applicant will ideally provide a high quality and engaging, contemporary music education for students in Years 1 to 6. The successful applicant will facilitate the school choir's participation in local events, develop a small auditioned ensemble and assist teachers in undertaking musical performances at school assemblies and concerts. A music qualification is desirable for this role.
The successful teacher will liaise with the School of Instrumental Music to enable their programs to be delivered in the school. The successful applicant will engage a wide range of students in enthusiastic participation of the music program using their contemporary understanding of musical performance and education. It is highly desirable that the successful applicant can build positive relationships with a diverse school community and possess a proactive approach to behaviour management including the consistent use of low key classroom management strategies.

The school has a neat blend of staff with extensive experience and a group of more recently graduated teachers. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
