Appointment Pool
School of Special Educational Needs: Behaviour and Engagement (SSEN: BE) is seeking to establish a pool of Administration Assistants for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2023.
Suitable applicants will ideally have experience in providing general and personal assistant administration in a complex environment. They should have the proven ability to coordinate multiple activities with minimal supervision and to tight timeframes with strong customer service focus with the ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Strong time management, organisational skills, and ability to coordinate and excellent attention to detail will be key to success in this role.
As the Administrative Assistant, you will provide general administrative support including asset financial and human resource management, organisation of office and IT equipment. You will also provide administrative support for managers including diary management, travel bookings, venue bookings, catering, material preparation and meeting support, including agenda and minute taking.

Your role will entail maintaining office efficiency, communication and facilitating the efficient functioning of the office’s day-to-day procedures and operations including managing phone, emails and written correspondence, arranging meetings and providing general support to other staff members. Occasional travel, including overnight stays may be involved as part of this position. Applicants will need to maintain and hold a current WA drivers’ licence.
SSEN: BE provides educational support and services to schools for students with extreme, complex, and challenging behaviours across a K-12 context. A continuum of consultative support with schools for students is delivered through Engagement Centres and the Midland Learning Academy. The services of the Engagement Centres and the Academy are coordinated through SSEN: BE which provides the administrative structure that oversees and manages these services as a State-wide model of support for schools, teachers, and students. The services complement other teams working in networks, regions, and schools, supporting a greater number of students across the state.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Experience in clerical and general administrative duties.
- Experience in purchasing, processing accounts for payment and monitoring expenditure for a work unit.
- Sound written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with individuals at all levels.
- Well developed keyboarding and computer skills including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, word processing and using an electronic records management system.
- Sound organisational skills, including the ability to use initiative and work independently or as part of a team.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
